How does ongoing parental conflict affect children — and what can we do about it?

This one-hour CPD session will explore the emotional and behavioural impacts of parental conflict on children, particularly in the context of separation and post-separation contact. The session is designed to support mediators and professionals working with families in conflict to better understand children's experiences and respond more effectively.

We are pleased to welcome Rachael Rudd, a family worker and parenting coach with extensive experience supporting families through school and community-based work.

Drawing on her experience working in schools, Rachael will explore:

  • How children interpret and internalise parental conflict
  • The potential long-term effects on emotional development and wellbeing
  • How professionals can identify risk factors and offer supportive strategies

Who should attend

This session is particularly relevant for:

  • Family mediators
  • Family support professionals
  • School staff and SEN leads
  • Social workers and safeguarding teams
  • Anyone working directly with children and families in conflict
