The Family Mediation Trust primarily delivers mediation online at present, we have found that the impact of online delivery is as good as face-to-face mediation for most cases. However, if your case has specific complexities and issues the mediator will discuss with you the need for face-to-face mediation. In these situations, we will look to host the sessions in one of the locations below. The decision of online delivery and the location for that delivery will be reached by the mediator discussing the case with you during the MIAM. The mediator reserves the right to make the final decision on the location of mediation.
The advantages of online delivery are:
- The cost of mediation is reduced as parties do not need to travel to a meeting. This is especially true when the two parties live in different areas.
- There is greater flexibility in the availability of mediators making it easier for cases to find mutually agreeable times.

- There is greater availability in the mediators who can lead your case. this ensures we can assign cases that have certain complexities to specialist mediators.
- Online delivery enables parties to engage in the process without being in the same room, for many people this enables them to take part in mediation
Only if the mediator views that there is a need to move the case to face to face delivery will the case be delivered in this way.
