Over the last 12 months, the number of high conflict cases has increased. This increase is not only impacting on the effectiveness of mediation, but also for the wellbeing of mediators. This course will focus on providing tactics for managing these cases, confidence in dealing with complaints and help for mediators to ensure they are mentally supported while handling high conflict clients.

Description

Having experienced a rise in the number of high conflict cases that present themselves for mediation, mediators have had to call on a range of tools and techniques needed to manage these clients. This course has been designed to give mediators' skills and confidence to take on cases with high conflict levels. 

The course will focus on:

  • Identifying potential conflict at MIAM stage
  • Identifying courses of conflict
  • Techniques for managing conflict, including;
    • Shuttle mediation
    • Co-mediation
    • Use of video platforms to reduce conflict
  • Effective use of your PPC and peer support

The case will incorporate an opportunity for attendees to explore some of their own cases and to have group discussions on approaches that could have been taken.

The course will be delivered jointly by Jane Bridge and Adrian Wright, the Trusts two PPC's.
