Description

Getting Legal Aid assessments correct every time is not easy, and a constant worry to all contract holders. The Family Mediation Trust has held a Legal Aid Contract from its founding days in the early 1980s. Using her extensive experience the Service's PPC, Jane Bridge, will deliver this 3hour course to give participant's improved confidence in the fundamental elements of assessment, as well as an understanding of some of the more complex elements.

The course will focus on:

  • Key principles of assessment: income, savings and equity
  • Gathering the correct evidence
  • Important questions to ask when making a booking
  • Passporting benefits
  • Undertaking the assessment
  • Completing the form
  • Challenging client types: student and self employed

This course is ideal for newly trained or accredited mediators, as well as for administrative team members. Experienced mediators who would like a refresher on Legal Aid would also benefit from the session.

The course will run for three hours and attendees will receive 3 CPD points.

The course TEAMS link will be issued the day before the training event is due to be held.
