Description

Getting Legal Aid assessments correct every time is not easy, and a constant worry to all contract holders. The Family Mediation Trust has held a Legal Aid Contract from its founding days in the early 1980s. Using her extensive experience the Service's PPC, Craig Brooks, will deliver this 3 hour course to give participant's improved confidence in the fundamental elements of assessment, as well as an understanding of some of the more complex elements.

The course will focus on:

  • Key principles of assessment: income, savings and equity
  • Gathering the correct evidence
  • Important questions to ask when making a booking
  • Passporting benefits
  • Undertaking the assessment
  • Completing the form
  • Challenging client types: student and self employed

This course is ideal for newly trained or accredited mediators, as well as for administrative team members. Experienced mediators who would like a refresher on Legal Aid would also benefit from the session.
