With over a decade of experience in the fields of family mediation, safeguarding, and conflict resolution, Debra is a highly experienced and empathetic mediator who works with clients across the North East of England.

Debra joined The Family Mediation Trust in 2025, bringing with her a strong background in family support, including previous roles in governance, education, and youth engagement. Her calm, structured, and compassionate approach has made her a trusted support to families navigating the emotional complexities of separation.

Specialisms

Debra has extensive experience supporting families where domestic abuse, mental health issues, and extended family conflict are present. She brings a strong understanding of safeguarding principles to her mediation work and is passionate about helping parents move from entrenched conflict to productive co-parenting.

She is especially committed to making sure children’s needs remain central to the process and is currently working toward qualification in Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM).

Training and employment background

Debra holds qualifications in family mediation and is trained in mental health awareness, trauma-informed practice, and suicide prevention. Her work has spanned both voluntary and statutory settings, including delivery of the Separated Parents Information Programme.

Prior to joining The Family Mediation Trust, Debra worked as a frontline mediator and governance advisor, with roles supporting family wellbeing and child safety at a regional level.
